Packing a Healthy Tiffin for Daycare — and the Catering Program We're Building

Nutrition & Meals5 June 2026By Shirin Sultana

At SafeCare, parents currently pack and provide their child's meals and snacks for the day. It sounds simple, but a well-packed tiffin makes a real difference to how a child eats, plays and naps — so our caregivers put together a few simple guidelines we share with every family.

Building a balanced tiffin

Aim for a mix of protein (egg, chicken, dal), a familiar carbohydrate (rice, roti, khichuri), and something fresh — fruit or steamed vegetables travel well and hold up until lunchtime. We ask parents to avoid anything that needs reheating, since our centers don't yet have on-site cooking facilities.

Every bite, logged

Even though the food comes from home, our caregivers supervise every mealtime and log what and how much each child ate directly in the SafeCare app — so you never have to guess how lunch went. Allergies and preferences are recorded on your child's profile and every caregiver sees them before mealtime.

What we're building next

We're actively working on a dedicated child-friendly catering program to bring fresh, nutritious meals to daycare centers across Dhaka — not just our own. It's still in development, but if you'd like to be among the first to hear when it launches, ask our team at your next visit.
